Default 3.6 head on 3.4 engine?

Will a 3.6 head work on a 3.4 engine? I can find 3.6 heads all day but no 3.4 heads.

I really wanted to repair mine but can't find a shop locally and Costa Mesa R&D is not answering email or phone...

Unfortunately no because all 3.6s have variocam PLUS. They use different cams, chains and intake lifters.

You may want to contact Len here http://www.hamincgroup.com/main.php He does Jake's engines' heads. He's not cheap but it doesn't hurt checking.

Thanks! I had asked if he could accept a little less last week. I may have offended. (not my intention) just in a bind financially.

I did reach out to http://www.hamincgroup.com/main.php and they have responded back, trying to figure out the pricing now!

I also found some reman heads at vertexauto for $1499 (plus $500 core). SO there are options.

Porsche price is $3135.20 plus tax right now. My parts guy said he may be able to get me a few hundo in discounts.. but yeah... They also sent me to a parts yard in OK that didn't have any.

I saw this today would only get you half way there but leaves money for the other side. Then again buying a used head from an ad is taking a risk.

Try finding a 3.2l boxster s head there should be quite a few out there for a lot less. According to jake they are interchangeable everything is the same just 3cc difference which would give a tad bit more compression...

No offense taken, I just have been crazy busy. I had two members contact me, you and one other. He offered my asking price but wants some additional photos. I just got the head out of storage and will send both of you photos. He has an extended warranty that will pay for a new head from Porsche. Let me talk to him and see if he will go that way so I can sell the head to you.

Thanks so much I really appreciate you and your care and generosity! I ended up sending it to Hoffman Automotive Machine as I had to keep my budget low. That was a great deal..

Your engine head will be in good hands. Len is THE expert on m96/97 heads.
