Rec'd a ticket in 1979 driving a '65 Valiant about 10 over the limit in NJ (home at the time).
Rec'd 2nd ticket in 2001 in TX cuz I sped up to get around a weaving driver. Cop didn't ask questions or anything.
Not me, but #1 son was pulled over for doing 94 in a 40 on his way to work in his 2013 Cayman S. Was pulled over in our own town at about 1130 at night. Cop sees he's local, asks what he was doing (son is a Fed employee), and when he found out he was on his way to work, let him go with a warning. This was just before a large on-ramp to the freeway, so son was gittin' on it while still in the 40.

I've never had/used a detector; both my sons swear by them.

I got a speeding ticket in my 996 on I-70 west of Denver. I was using a Bel RX-65. A motorcycle officer got me right where the speed limit drops from 70 mph to 55 mph. That was the only ticket I've ever gotten in a 911, and the only one I've ever gotten with a radar detector.

If you gotta fly blind at least learn how to fly with you gauges so you're not flying upside down.

The orientation of this photo is ideal for this thread.

re: detectors - the wife and I have them in all three cars, and they have paid for themselves ten times over or more.

Escort 9500Xi hidden system with laser jammers front and rear.
System was on the car when I bought it.
Works Great! The amount of alerts/info is incredible, you need to know how to us it to really take advantage of every thing it can do.
I have not gotten a speeding ticket with the 996... yet, but the system has always alerted me of what is going on around me.

I try not to be a dumb @ss with the car, she is really loud and I have been painted with laser before... its kind of scary when it goes off for that and you can not "see" them!

I have a Python 360 laser detector on board. I do not speed simply because I have a detector on board. Many times I do drift over the limit.
I do speed, but there is also something very fun about driving a fast car . . . slowly--
I run with a V1, largely for situation awareness, love that thing
I have been known to squirt in an out of traffic, but the sustained high speeds only have limited enjoyment for me, personally-- KH
