Default 911/996/C4S -

My 911/996/C4S/CAB/6Speed( 04 92k )just arrived on Saturday via Pilot Transport. Here are some of my random thoughts...

I found the car on RENNLIST about 3 weeks ago. I would like to say a Big Thanks to Mr. Groovzilla (Rennlist Member) who helped me on what to look for in an older 911. My goal, was to buy a sub $30K car - see how much I drive it and enjoy it - then if I do enjoy it, move "up-market" and buy a new/newer one in a few years.

Now, on to the car -

The car is a ROCKET SHIP. 0-15 MPH is OK, but from 15-75 MPH, you better hold on. 2nd - through 5th gear, my torso was mashed against the seat. The "notes" from the motor are great - my DD is a Honda Accord - all I hear is XM Radio - with the Porsche - I don't even want to have the radio on - so as to hear the "noise".

I also feel as if I am driving a go-kart. My butt seems to be only about 6" off of the road - which is a strange feeling. The car just steers where I turn the wheel - it takes corners like nothing I have ever driven before.

I took my wife a a long ride (with the top down) and she told me "that was fun..."

Congrats and welcome - you're going to love it! It's going to be 75 here tomorrow and I will be right there with you. Freshly washed and waxed, top-down awesomeness

Congrats. As I understand it the 04s Cab is a rare bird, so double congrats.

BTW - Technically you don't need 4th and 5th for 75MPH. 3rd will do you just fine

Third is the only thing at that speed that doesn't make me really wish I had a turbo. Of course I eventually want one and there is no replacement, but it softens the blow a little.

Welcome! And really, that feeling doesn't really go away; I've had mine since August and I never get tired of it.

Since Groovezilla helped you out, are you by chance in the PNW? If so it's always nice to welcome another member into our rainy corner of the world.

appreciate the kind words - the C4S is a great driver - *and don't forget there is a "6th" gear
now you must post some photos - anxious to see it in your garage!

Nice choice. The 4S is a wonderfully balanced car, plenty fast for the street despite what the turbo folks will say, plus with the factory sports exhaust it sounds much better

I'm not so sure that a 996 N/A is a rocket ship. Its a quick car but not overly exciting. My wife's SRT crossfire pulls much harder.

Congratulations, and nice choice with seal grey. In addition to not being yet another silver 996, you'll find that the seal grey hides dirt really well.

OP's daily is an Accord, so we can perhaps give him a little slack for daring to suggest that an N/A 996 is actually a fast car.

The supercharged Crossfire makes 330HP, which doesn't exactly eclipse the 4S, and the 0-60 time is slower than the 4S unless you swapped pullies or otherwise tinkered with the Crossfire to wring out some additional power...
