Looking at those pictures, I think I like the overall look of the headlights on the 996 vs the 997!

I agree with Paul on the headlights - truly the 996 headlights look better. I like the 997 taillights better, but that's nothing that a set of LED taillights wouldn't fix also.

Interesting. So UAE has two different kinds of plates to accomodate both Euro and Asian/American type cars?

Where was your 996tt originally from?

I don't care for the MkII headlights. My preference is the 996 MKI then the 997 followed by the MKII.

We have them in Australia too but we have standard, slim, euro, euro slim and now Japanese. All of them can be custom as well.

+996 on the headlights although the mk2 are my preference

Great pics

When you go for registration you generally order long or short plates as a set, getting one long and one short is more of an effort.

My 996 is a UAE car.

....however if you leave the registration to the dealer, you can end up with this....

LOL! Leave it to a dealer...

As for the lights. I think the MK2 are the most modern design but of course the purists prefer the round lights so that's what Porsche has to do!

Plus it is a part of the 911s identity so it makes sense to keep it that way even if it doesn't look quite as clean.

I would've thought that UAE car would have Euro bumper unless it's a grey market import. What's more common there, the rectangular plated bumpers or American style ones?

I'm loving the red turbo twists. I wonder how they would look on my midnight blue metallic cab?

Oh, those aren't real. mcbit just photoshopped them in, IIRC.

I really adore every angle of my 996 MK2 GT3, and not a fan of the design of the MK1 997 front end. Also really like the 996 Turbo. The 991 looks good with “round” headlights to my eyes, but the 997 looks a bit forced, though I think the 997 turbo and the 997 MK2 GT3 are good looking cars (and on my radar for a replacement for my car) overall.

Looking at these pics I have to say that I do prefer every aspect of the 996tt over the 997. The owner of the 997tt is the guy who bought by 996 4S from me.

Both the 996tt and the 996 4S with the bent number plate are Gulf spec cars sold new by Porsche UAE.

They are real! I liked the Photoshop results so I had them painted, I love them some people don't but on my specialist Porsche indy's Facebook page my car has more likes than any other car by quite a long way.
