Dark grey's has a nice contrast to gold wheels, I just don't feel it with the really light greys. I will say though that dark anthracite or dark bronze would look good with silver or light grey, just not the BBS gold color.
To me it's like brown/purple or brown/green combo. Different strokes for different folks.
Zookie's car is probably the best representation for what the OP originally asked for.

Personally the gold is too blingy (not even a word) for my taste. Most of the black wheel setups I really dislike and ultimately I think that fad will become a bad memory down the road. I prefer the traditional silver rims with any 911 - favorite were Fuchs on the air cooled cars.
