Hey 996 Gurus, I need some help identifying a cable. I just opened the rear lid and found this cable hanging out from behind the left tail light. Any idea what it's for?

I've never seen the rear one, but that looks like the emergency frunk release so I'm assuming it's the emergency bonnet release. No idea why it is there though, I believe it should be tucked under the bumper skin so you can actually get to it with no battery.

OK, that makes sense. Thank you. So I guess I should fish it through past the tail light down towards the bumper. I have no idea what the correct path should be..
Any thoughts on placement?

 

Thread it so you can easily reach it from under the back end of the car. In the same general area.

 

Emergency engine lid cover cable - Mine resides under the tail light. It just lays there on the body under the light. Although I tried to think of a better place for it, I couldn't come up with one. Remove taillight and just lay the cable under it. Not so worried about this cable, but, I have relocated the frunk release cable to reside just inside the front tow hook cover. Best move ever.

 

I routed mine behind the bumper. I think Porsche's initial though by having it between the taillight and bumper was to be able to fish it out if you need it but it is way too easy to scratch something in trying to access it from the factory location.
