My point which seemed to be lost in Internet land was this:
Don't assume your car is so awesome that when you see a child who showed zero interest walking past (to the point their backs are to you.) then call out to the kid "want to sit in my car"
I know and it's OK. The man is happy, he loves his car, and he is kind enough to want to share. Just go for it. Even if I rolled in in a 918 Spyder, I'd still take him up on the offer. That's just good enthusiastmanship. I rather have that than some douche that shows up and puts "Do not touch" signs all over his car; my thought about those guys is: Why the hell even show up? Just park that thing at home and don't bother.

Our point is even if you own a 918 don't diminish the thing that brings another person joy, not even a little.

Wow, so you were a condescending tool to someone who was trying to do something nice for your son?
Cool story bro!
Yeah, op. Way to be a dick to someone who drives a "lowly" cayman. At least man up and admit you were being a tool - and clearly you didn't feel too bad about busting the guy's *****, as you felt compelled to go online and share your awesome Cayman "burn." At least the Cayman made it to the show and wasn't sitting in a garage bleeding oil out of a popped cam end cap.
SMH...
You're right, OP. The guy with the Cayman was WAY out of line, thinking that a kid at a car show might want to sit in a cool sports car. What a presumptuous ***! Everyone knows that kids think sports cars are stupid...ESPECIALLY the kids at car shows.
I bet OP would still get butthurt if someone in a 991 (you know, someone with a REAL 911 at home) did the same thing to him...
For those of you who still wonder why Porsche guys don't do the wave like Corvette guys do: because this thread.
What does your 911 look like, or are you not Proud enuff' of it to put it in your Avatar or Signature? jw! Also, since i didn't see the OP since you Deleted it Why didn't you take yours to the car show?
OP, this could have ended after the first comment. All you had to do was say "I'm sorry! I just re-read my original post, and it sounds way worse than I intended." Done, and although there may have a few piling on, most would have moved on to another thread. But no, you had to double down. (Especially, as 5chn3ll points out, your car was probably at home, broken and leaking oil.). I started to feel sorry for you, until you posted again. Hopefully you're not a bad guy, but so far I have no interest in meeting you.
LOL, this is brilliant stuff here! Guy with a $20k 911 that's currently disabled busts the ***** of the guy with a functional Cayman S that's worth more.
Based on: This is the "front" of the engine on passenger side. First why did it come out!!!!! pun about your kid getting to "sit" in daddy's 911 at home is actually very accurate, no riding around in 911 with daddy for obvious reasons. If you were cool to the dude, there could have been a chance you kid could go for a ride in a functional mid-engine Porsche.
Aside from the outright douchery, why was "mid-engine" in quotes? I guess OP isn't convinced that the mid-engine design is sound. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani, and Koenigsegg - along with Porsche - are sure to be bummed...

Sounds like Cayman guy gets extra credit for not just giving you the finger.
Which Rolex were you wearing when you dissed the guy with the crappy Cayman (that can probably run circles around you and your 996?)

You missed OP's other threads about leaking coolant, oil seeping from the top of the motor, and oil dribbling from the IMS flange.

Holy crap, I didn't even realize this was the same guy...makes it even better. As you said, he deprived his son of a chance to go for a ride in a real WORKING Porsche.....
Thanks Guys... Seriously. You would rather take the side of some made up person rather than a new member to the community that actually has a 996 and is looking for support from fellow owners.
