Default Brake Pad Recommendations

I'm sure this is like "Whats the best Oil", but I am looking to replace my fron brake pads and was hoping for some recommendations. The car is a 99 C2 used for 95% street driving and 5% track. Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks
Rick

I'm a fan of Hawk HPS pads.

Low dust, fairly quiet, good initial bite and great for a street car with some track use. I run/ran them on my 996TT, Murcielagos, Vipers, STIs, M3, etc.

Textar is similar to oem (my oem pads I removed said textar on them) at half the cost - good on street and fine for occasional track use -

The Endless mx72 has proven to be a great pad among the local autocrossers.

I guess you need to define / decide how you are going to use the car.

and it is my .02 cents worth the Textar pads are not what I am used to with regards to brake torque

Whatever you do, don't get Akebono. They have no dust but also no bite! I got them on my old Benz once and I while I didn't have to clean my wheels for months on end, I was very nervous in LA traffic with those stupid things.

Cool Carbons have great bite, but they are friggin' loud. I don't mean an occasional squeak - I mean teeth-grittingly loud every time you stop unless you get them up to temperature.

This generally means that instead of braking normally, you stomp on the brake pedal every time in a pathetic attempt to get some heat into the pads.

I second the Hawk HPS. Reasonably priced and readily available. I used them on my DD for years. Very little dust, they can handle spirited driving, and they seem to last forever.

If you decide to go with these, the part numbers are HB291F.642 front and HB290F.583 rear.

The Pagid Sport pads have been very popular for this application:

Ferodo DS2500 is a favorite cross over pad of all that have used them.

I had the exact opposite experience with Akebono pads on my E30 325i and E36 M3.

The initial cold bite isn't the world's greatest, but this is in reference of chilly fall and winters in Vancouver but they stop very well otherwise.

I had a set of them in my old E91 325i wagon in LA and they were great through and through.

I've used Textar pads on the front with good results.

I have Akebono pads now - not bad at all! Clean, and they stop fine.

I have akebono on my bmw e46 front - yes cold bite is poor versus oem - but once up to temp - no issues - also very light dust and wear has been much better than the stock rear pads I replaced at same time ...but for my lower miles/year 911 - I would still probably go textar again ...dust is not that annoying, cold feel is good, track performance was fine and wear is ok for the amount I use it (5k/Yr) ....if I was putting on a lot more miles I might consider akebono so not to have to clean the wheels or replace the brakes and rotors as often ...that would be a worthwhile trade for cold bite ...

I've been using cool carbon pads on my 2004 996 c2 .
I really like them , low dust and great even quiet braking on BC mountain roads especially on the long runs downhill .
I fitted sebro rotors and goodridge stainless brake lines at the same time

I prefer them to the ebc red pads and oem pads.

My car has PSM .
