I saw this thread before. It came out fantastic, but I just can't imagine so much effort for what I would consider so little reward.

Very impressive work! A very fun thread to read through.

At least your buddy posted:

For the people who thinks its ridicious to change the front end please save the comments. I understand not everyone cares for the kit and frankly i don't care. This is my car and what I want for it. I don't care who can tell its still a 996. Good for you, give yourself a pat on the back. I don't care that non porsche owners wont realize the difference, I build my car for me and what I want. I don't want to save my money and buy a 997. I could have already but passed on it. I wanted a 996 with a 997 front end. In my eyes that's the porsche that should have been built to begin with. Now that I've cleared that up.
Can't argue with that at all.

He put a ton of work into that conversion. Glad he's happy with it.

Hey guys, this is my project. Atrox, thanks buddy for sharing this. I appreciate all the compliments and posts. I had a lot of fun with this project. I'm glad to see it all finished. Next I am moving onto the interior where I'll be installing a full cage, bucket seats and a new steering wheel.

I didn't catch the name of the gentleman who said the hood looks off at the bumper. That's because in these pictures the hood latch wasn't installed. The hood was actually sitting below the bumper at this point and not upright closing off the gaps around the bumper. I assure you that in person it all aligns as should be.

To the gentleman who said my car needs more "spatula". I don't know what that even means.

Nicely done as commented in the original thread. RL is quite a bit different than 6spd as you can already see, which requires thicker skin sometimes without getting offended.

Welcome aboard.

Alpine, thanks for the compliment. I understand that everyone has their own opinions and everyone has the right to them. I absolutely know some will see this as a cool upgrade and others won't. As I stated in the original post on 6speed, I'm very aware of all this but I'm not looking for the "hater" comments. I see a lot of posts that I disagree with or dislike. I just click the back button and move on to the next post.

My skin is thick, I toughened it up on the battlefields of Iraq. I don't see accepting someone's bash as having to be tough though. If someone has constructive criticism I'm always open for discussion but the second someone tries telling me that their way is the only way is when I stop listening. If I see that on here I'll just delete my post and go back to 6speed. Not because I don't have tough skin but because I don't believe in belittling others just to make you feel better about yourself.

For instance, one gentlemen said great job but he can't fathom the money for such little reward. That right there is a respectable comment. In his eyes the two body style don't differ enough to want to spend that kind of mine. I personally see a huge change in the front ends BUT I can see his point of view as well. He was respectable and raised his point.

Sorry for the big long post, I just highly despise when I see bashing on forums. People tend to think their way is the only way and anyone that doesn't do what they like deserved to be bashed on. I have zero tolerance for that and that's why I posted what I did when I started my original thread.

I agree with you and I commend you for the work you've done on your car. It's nice that you can take your car and make it your own as you see fit.

As for the bashing comments, I agree that people get carried away sometimes. That being said, it's very common to see people post a modification and ask the group for their opinions. When people on the forum don't like the modifications, then the original poster gets upset. I think there needs to be balance. If you ask what people think, then don't get upset if they don't like your ideas!

Dennis, very well said! I absolutely agree. If you ask for someone's thoughts then don't get upset when it's given. As long as the person who is giving the thoughts doesn't go overboard. You don't need to tell the person how you feel by belittling them. Just say, "not my taste". Ok, cool.. gotcha! Different strokes for different folks. No one way is the right way.

Btw, Dennis I LOVE the color on your car (your avatar). Can you post a full picture?

Thanks! I agree. There's nothing wrong with disagreeing with somebody's opinion or taste, but doing so in a respectful manner would make the forums much more pleasant.

I don't want to go too OT in this thread and post photos of a 997, but I'll throw one out there since you asked! The color is Macadamia Brown Metallic, which was launched in 2008.

Dennis, that color looks amazing on that car!!! You keep it in great shape as well. Idc if the thread gets overwhelmed with other people's cars. The thread yea is about the 996 to 997 upgrade but I love to see others rides and modifications. I'm not one to get upset if the thread takes a turn.
