wish I was as rich as I am stupid
Drove my former 996 today...made the dealer an offer to buy it back. I'll know if it is accepted tomorrow morning. I love the lines of the 997 more, but driving the 996, even with 72 year old reaction times and knees, it is the more fun car to be in. The interior is so clean and honest...and yes I can feel the missing horsepower but the 996 is more than fast enough. I'll post as soon as it is back in my possession.
How much is my mistake going to cost me? All things in, about $9,000. On the other hand I'll be saving $17,000 so I'm still ahead $8,000. More or less. But the truth is that I'm out $9,000 and I won't bother itemizing it.
Oh yes, and I prefer the stock 996 suspension to the sport and normal settings on the 997. And I prefer the way the 996 took a set in some turns.
What more can I say. I made a decision that it turns out I regret making. And I'll have to pay the price.

John, everyone makes mistakes, few are as out front about stupid mistakes as you are. Most of us are "closet mistakers" Many come to Vegas and lose more than that but will only talk about the free drinks and the comped rooms.

They are like accidents on the side of the freeway. You hate yourself for looking, but you're interested just the same.
Now that he's all got us looking anytime he posts, I'm waiting for him to pull a Rick-roll out of his hat
