Good Article On M96

I don't think the article is so good. Actually the earlier double row bearings were less likely to fail. Many things can fail on these engines, its always just a crapshoot. I like that 9 out of 10 don't fail, I live in Vegas and those are good odds. The problem is that if you crap out its an expensive loss. I've done all I can to get the best odds possible but there is no guarantee. When I was young I rode my well worn Harley Knucklehead from LA to Houston and back. I had some electrical problems and I always was ready for it to blow up but it didn't. Part of the adventure was that I never knew if I would make it. To a lesser extent the Porsche is also like that. By the way I'm driving it to LA from Vegas again tomorrow, its my third trip. I don't worry about it any more, I just drive it. All will be fine.

That's all we need. Another scare monger doing the dirty. He is talking through his rectum. Stating the 98 to 2000 is more susceptible to failure. Completely wrong statement from all other reports I have read on the subject. More failures from 2000 to 2005 should have been the dates for that statement as the double row bearing 98 to 2000 are more robust and less likely to fail. Jake Raby says so.

Jake said before they are not related. How's that for a coincidence!
Plus, the article comes from the UK. What do the Brits know about fine German engineering anyway? They gave us the Jaguar for fu$ks sake!

For 3 years I had a Jaguar S-Type and an XK8 (pre-Ford) at the same time. The service writer at the dealer knew me, my wife and my kids names on sight. It was a rare week when at least one car wasn't in the shop or we were planning to take one in.
I owned my 996 for the same amount of time. By comparison, it was bulletproof.
Didn't want to turn this thread to "Jag Bashing". So sorry about that.
Now, let's talk about Land Rovers...
