Need to photograph a West Coast 996
Hey guys,
I recently left my job as editor of Petrolicious and have just penned an article for The Truth About Cars. However, I need to find a Porsche 996 Carrera to photograph to accompany the article.
If you live in W. Los Angeles and would be willing to help out, I'd give you the full set of digital pics and one print of your car (large format, 11" x 17" max).
This is what I need: it must be a base 911 (turbos, GT2s, GT3s, C4s, etc... need not apply), if it's a little tired looking, even better! The ideal would be a base 911 in a medium blue, with beige interior and GT3 rims. But any base 996 will do. I can shoot any day of the week, but the car needs to be at the location about half an hour before sunset. Thanks in advance!

Three Wheelin'
I have a base '00, silver over black in San Diego. It's lowered and has widebody wheels, otherwise stock.
If you can't find anyone with a car and this will work, shoot me a PM.

Will this article be about a bargain of the century deal due to the IMS paranoia? And can we expect that once this article hits the net/publications that every college kid will be either asking their parents to buy them one, taking out credit card loans to drive one, or just begging/stealing/pimping themselves and everyone so they can drive one? Then the snowball effect starts where these said kiddies start pimping out their rides with 12" rims on 255 tires, scraping the oil pan on every bump, etc.

@white out thank you will do!
@alpine003 ummm... no. It will be about a bargain of the century, but nothing to do with the IMS or paranoia. It's about my experience and the lessons learned. Good guess though, lol.

Yeah I just can't help to be cynical after reading a handful of articles but they both can't exist without the other. They are a bargain because of the IMS paranoia primarily followed by ugly headlight syndrome and parts sharing with the Boxster IMO.

If you want to drive down to Oceanside (about 1.5 hours south of West LA, you can shoot my '03 base C2. Blue, gray interior.

Hi Yoav - I'm close to the Marina del Rey area and saw your cool Morgan pics which I presume were taken by Dockweiler beach. Nice work!
My car is pristine and in Silver GT color, which I know is not what you're looking for, but just in case do know that it's there ready for pics. The paintwork looks particularly amazing at sunset time... just saying...

I can offer my 2004 C2 base convertible, seal gray (black top) over black interior. Car is lowered, has xenon retrofit but otherwise stock. I am in Carlsbad (close to Cuda in Oceanside).

I figured if anybody was going to shoot your car, Cuda, it would be you. Maybe you can display a set of bad cats and your old engine next to it. But hey, neither problem was IMS bearing related, so it's all good!

Just a thought...why not concentrate the majority of your photographs on one particular car, and gather a group of different 996's together for a group shot. In the spirit of showing what's actually available to a perspective buyer. Car color preference is often the most important criteria a buyer has when shopping for a new ride. If you really want to prove a point in your article, don't limit yourself to one color. After all, variety IS the spice of life.
