Why would anyone buy one of these and then be ashamed of it?

Mine has headlight covers on it. They were there when I bought it. I'm about 50/50 on removing them. The thing holding me back is the potential for damage to either the lenses or covers. I don't know how they were put on and may just make the situation worse!

If you're ashamed of your 996 give it to me. I'll take it and drive it proudly.

I was thinking about it, and the headlight covers probably look a little better on an aero car because it seems to be more in theme with the body work.

Me too.
I really don't even understand this entire thread.
It screams "I'm actually ashamed but I need re-assurance from the community that I shouldn't be".

And Hurdi - you could start by removing all that extraneous badging from your car that you put on to emulate what you saw on the 991.

This is an album of my latest P O R S C H E mod. I know it's far from being 'bad ***' as you young dudes would say, but I quite like the effect. The lettering was meant for a 928 but I thought it would go well on my 996. Thoughts please. Better if you put the album on slide show.

I love the headlights on the 996, modern, part of the 911's step into the new millenium.
They make the 997 look like it is older.

What a f*****g stupid thread.

Maybe you can spray some WD-40 on it and it'll be less shameful to own.

The 996 is the most beautiful car I've ever owned. The fact that I was able to purchase it for less than the cost of a loaded Honda Element is a feather in my cap, not something to be ashamed of.

I purchased real estate when the market was down - and I'm not especially ashamed of that, either.

Hurdi, I don't know if your meds just hadn't kicked in yet or what, but do yourself a favor and lock this thread so it will go away.

Oh - and it's "y'all," not "yawl." Damn British can't speak the language.
