Default Need a battery

My car is starting to crank over slowly. Time for a new battery.

Any suggestions on brand/where to purchase?

Thanks

I have had good luck with the Napa OEM fit I put in last year (the larger of two listed). It is very heavy but fits perfect and the cables attached perfectly. I suggest getting the larger one because these cars suck power on start up....especially when its cold. About $150.
I normally use Optima Red Top but there wasn't a direct fit option and I didn't want to deal with the necessary modifications for that install.

You will probably get a lot of opinions on this one. I got a new battery several months ago and opted for a Sears AGM battery at around $180. That was to replace a Sears DieHard that I put in there for close to 5 years. Sears are everywhere, they have a great warranty, I like the AGM and my old DieHard lasted a good amount of time.

I normally buy them at Autozone, they won for best value at a battery torture test a few years ago. There's only a few major battery manufacturers anyway, most of them are re-branded but identical inside.

Going on 4 1/2 years with the Walmart battery around $75 if memory serves me. Made by Johnson Controls and the specs are exactly the same as the Interstate battery for our cars. I too went with the larger size for the higher CCA's. Great battery so far!

I just put in an Autocraft AGM battery from Advance Auto Parts the other night. Direct fit, took about 5 minutes to swap. Was $164, and there is a $25 rebate on it.

My first choice was a Sears AGM, but my local Kmart, which looks like it will be closing any day now, didn't have it in stock.

Bosch 48 at Pep Boys last 2 I bought for customers. Go on line & they had a coupon broght price down to $115. 48 seems to be a European size & you pay a premium.

Is ripoff Engineer a recognized career path??

There are several AGM batteries sold by Autozone, Advance Auto Parts and Sears with very little difference in specifications. All are much better than other regular, non-AGM batteries. Buy the size H7 and it's an easy perfect fit. Make sure you attach the vent tube. They are sometimes sold with plastic plugs for the vent tube on both sides, so you'll have to remove the one on the passenger side and plug the factory vent tube into that.

Lead-acid batteries are not rocket science. Autozone batteries have been working well in my cars for years.

A $30 battery maintainer will result in a longer battery life, probably much more so than spending 2x or 3x on a German-sounding battery.

Here's another vote for AutoZone. I went Duralast Platinum for $185 out the door - I couldn't find a lower priced battery in my area.

Around here, there's an AZ on practically every corner. Should I have trouble with the battery, I won't have to go far to test/exchange it.

Slightly o/t, but I'm fascinated by the prospect of desulfating and refilling a battery that's otherwise salvageable. I have five cars and I may give it a shot when the next one gives out. Seems cheap and easy enough - if it really works.

Another vote for Autozone, but I paid way less than $185. Mine was a 49L.
