Thanks! Yes, I traded the M3 for the Macan last year. I love the three white Porsche photo. You don't get to take a photo like that very often. It's even more amusing that they have three consecutive plates.

I got tired of the M3 being temperamental and thought that by moving to the Macan I would gain something that was practical, fun and less of a prima donna. I do miss driving the M3 like crazy. it was a really fun car to drive, but not a fun car to own. Unfortunately, the Macan has proven to be he highest maintenance car I've owned and I've developed a really close relationship with my service advisor. Guys at work joke about what color Macan loaner I'll be driving on any given day. It's a pain in the ***. I'll definitely need an extended warranty for it.

As for the comparison of new to old 911 - they're different. My daughter prefers the 996 and to be honest I can't disagree with her. The 996 is more raw and spirited. The new one is refined, quieter, and less of a direct connection of the driver to the road. Both are seriously fun to drive, but the 996 is just more connected to the driver, even if it is slower.

The 996 will be gone in the next week or so and I'll really miss it, but I've babied it well and it's time for me to send it on to a new home that will appreciate it. It's going to a first time Porsche owner, but he's a lifetime car enthusiast. I know he'll treat it well.

Now I have to figure out mods for the new 911.

Well, this is the photo of my baby leaving me to become someone else's baby.

I hope that the new owner shows up here so I can see her again occasionally.

Very nice car, but those are SportDesign wheels. Sport Classic is what my new addition has got.

I've loved the look of the 1999 911 GT3 for like 20 years, so I'm a little bit obsessed with the SportDesign wheels.

The Sport Classic ones are very nice (especially in person), but I was actually hoping to find one that had the SportDesign ones instead. This car was too good to pass up just because of that, though.

No, I got this one on Bring a Trailer all the way from Kansas City, Missouri. If there was a Guards Red 996.1 with the aerokit being sold locally, I must have completely missed it, despite the fact that I was looking on basically every site I could think of to try and find a car like this.

I had a chance yesterday to take out the car with my old DSLR. I think the pics turned out pretty good!

These pictures really emphasize the rock chipping, though. I really need to get that fixed soon.

Great photos, and a great car. That's an XAA factory aero kit, right? What's the build date?

... found the BaT listing, 6/98. You should track down a set of the hollow turbo twists (option 408) to get that back to fully stock!

Thanks! Love automotive photography and it's been too long since I had a good subject for it.

Yep, you've got it. Its 23rd birthday is next month!

I actually really wanted the Sport Design wheels to complete the 996.1 GT3 look:

But I have to admit that the Sport Classic wheels are kind of growing on me. I may keep them.
