Default Bluetooth question for the team

I would like to install Bluetooth in my '03 Cab. This iSimple unit looks like a good solution for my Bose CD-R 23 system.
Amazon.com : iSimple Hands-Free Calling and Music Streaming Kit with Control Button for Smartphones - Frustration-Free Packaging - Black : Wired Cell Phone Headsets : Car Electronics Amazon.com : iSimple Hands-Free Calling and Music Streaming Kit with Control Button for Smartphones - Frustration-Free Packaging - Black : Wired Cell Phone Headsets : Car Electronics
. So here is my question, I currently have an iPad mini installed and it interfaces withe head unit through a Sosche IPFMRDS box that connects via the antenna input. Is it possible to run the input from the Sosche and the iSimple in a series where the ISimple would override the Sosche unit when a call comes in? Or in the alternative, will the iSimple unit allow multiple connections (Ipad and phone) at one time and I can ditch the Sosche unit?

Why not just replace it with a head unit that has BT hands free and steaming and iPod control. I just picked up a nice alpine single DIN unit for $219 that does all of that and looks rather factory too. All of those features you want will work more seamlessly with the aftermarket deck.

I know that certainly is the more preferable way to go. Unfortunately I have the Bose Most system. That complicates things a bit and would require changing the amp in addition to the head unit. Sent from my iPad using Rennlist

Oh got it. Bummer. I'm in the same boat with my e39 M5 with the DSP system. It was pretty decent ten years ago. But not so much these days.

I have the iSimple Tranzit-BLU HF in my 997.1 with bose. AFAIK I don't see anything in the instructions regarding bluetooth pairing more than one device at a time, but they have a toll-free helpline listed in the instructions and I called them on something and they were pretty helpful. You'd think they should be able to tell you what will and won't work.

Thanks Ben. I called them today and they think it should work (connecting in a series). I guess only one way to tell and give it a shot. How do you like the iSimple? Sent from my iPad using Rennlist

Even with decent bluetooth, I've found the 996 and the Cayman S to just be too noisy of an environment to have a decent hands-free phone call in. They are good noises for sure, but between the wind noise, intake, and exhaust I'll just let calls go to voicemail and grab another gear.

+1

My 997 with the top down is quieter than my old 996 C4S coupe. The Fister mufflers certainly contributed to that!

Motorola Roadster 2. Easy, no installation, works like a charm.

I use
one of these one of these
between my car and my truck. Calls are clear and it streams music on the FM transmitter great. Has been working fine for over a year now.

I had a Cayman S with a full Fabspeed exhaust, intake, and PSS9s. It had an older Parrot Bluetooth installed for hands-free phone that was still usable, even in a relatively loud car. I think proper mic placement is very important.

onewhippedpuppy where do you think the best place is. I have a Cab and it has Fabspped exhaust, 200 cell x-pipe cats and competition intake. My though is on the driver's a-pillar.

The pillar will tend to pick up more wind noise. I would say probably the left center windshield header, left of the panel for the lights and sunroof. That way you get the mic away from the window and more or less straight ahead of you, as sound is directional. Many OEM hands free systems use that spot, so it's not just me. Also easy to route the wire behind the A-pillar and under the headliner.
