Congrats! Beautiful car!!

I am not a Ferrari guy at all. But, I did drove my friend's 308 GTS and man... it sure was fun. Pure analog car (no power brakes, steering and such). Loved the engine roar from behind.

Enjoy the car in great health!!

Cheers,
-K

I bought my 996 as a stepping stone into an F-car (F-430) later. But now, I'm contemplating if it would be truly worth an extra $75K. If anyone has first hand experience, I'd love to hear it. I have driven an F-430 but only for a couple of laps and that's not the same as driving it around town.
Thanks Rubik! I guess you can say I did the same buying the C4S in terms of a stepping stone. Was thinking of moving to a TT or 997, but when I realized the cost was pretty close to the F-Car, I embraced the opportunity.

The F430 is a beautiful car, I wouldn't mind moving up to one if the opportunity arises

This is great stuff, thanks for the info. Those results are excellent, I will keep your contact info handy once the budget becomes available!

Thanks Kalyan, much appreciated! Agreed, the 308, 328, Mondial and 348 are the last of the pure analog Ferrari's and the note of the engine purr is like no other.

Bingo! This is the key in owning an older exotic/classic. Some people get it. Some don't...

While doing a story on another classic super car that a guy had, he also saw a Countach in the garage and the owner was kind enough to let him drive it...

He wished he hadn't. It was underpowered, noisy, handled terribly, and just a general disappointment. The moral of the story was that sometimes it's better to let a dream stay a dream!

As someone who grew up in the early 80's, I was utterly crushed to read that!

I read a similar article in Automobile or Road & Track but the dream was a Testarossa. He was happy that he had driven it but he also admitted that he was certain he would never buy one now that he had driven it.

Thanks mharrision! The Countach will not doubt remain a dream, those cars sell for 400K plus . When I test drove the 348, I had the same concern. I thought because of the age it would feel dated, under powered and obsolete. Although the car did not feel quite as fast as the C4S, it had ample power, go kart handling not to mention that distinct F-Car exhaust note that made it all so worth it.

RaginBull: I'm sure you've seen the video of the guy who did the twin turbo on the 348, as I recall it was a yellow one, maybe in Europe? Top notch modification, and you know the exhaust note on those cars are to die for!

Congrats! I told my F.Planner a few weeks ago, make sure I save some money for a Ferrari. My goal is by 28 to have a 360 but I love the lines of the late 80's early 90's, 348s, 355s, etc so it might be an earlier one. Enjoy it, she is a beauty .

Thanks william91! Agreed on the earlier 80's - 90's models which are the ones I fell in love with. The 360 is more refined but the curves just don't do it for me, however the Spider may be an option. Good luck on the F-Car, when you get it...you will know that the wait and planning was well worth it!

Wow -- beautiful example, Raginbull. You must be thrilled. I love the 348, 355 and 430 best, though I could never give up a Porsche.
