My garage door is stuck so I can’t get my 996 out this morning.
I wonder what everyone would think if I ran out and bought this one so I could still drive a 996 until the garage door repairman comes later this afternoon.
Maybe I could call and cancel the appointment.
I could have him come late next week...hmmm...
When ever I see rotors that look like that, it makes me wonder what else was ignored over the years...Worth a close look though!

Radio doesn’t work.
Cup holder is broken.
It didn’t want to start.
It shakes badly on the freeway.
Here are a couple more pictures of it.

Car needed some window tint, it looks like it has spent some time out in the Houston sun.

Rear carpet is badly faded.

It is still for sale.
My friend who was interested, and took the pictures, decided to pass.

How does it happen when coolant gets in the engine? Is there preventative care to prevent this from happening? Just trying to understand more about these cars.

There's maybe 200 different ways to get intermix. I guess do a search on 'intermix' or ask on the 996 forum for help.

The description states "the temperature gauge came on". With it being a 2000 with the 3.4, I would guess cracked head.

Cracked head would be easier and less expensive to fix vs damage IMS bearing correct?

The LN Engineering folks have a ton of experience in this area and they can provide a very accurate answer. From what I have learned, I think the answer would be "it depends". Best case is a short run time with the cracked head with no internal engine damage. The would still cost thousands to take both heads off and get them professionally repaired. Depending on where the crack is, it may be better to source another head. There are many parts, in addition to the heads that need to be replaced when it is put back together. Worst case is coolant has gotten inside the case and there is bearing damage requiring a complete rebuild.

I'd bet it needs a lot of work as it's been ignored and just driven into the ground!

IMS valve lol. New mode of failure. Seems like a solid deal in any case.

If someone has a motor and transmission, here's a really nice cheap roller.
