Hey , no fighting among M96'ers in here...This stuff about being "hand built" was started by the P-car guys whose brake and clutch pedals stick up from the floor board.
They claimed that the 996 was NOT hand built.....and that the headlights were ugly..
Point the finder in the right direction or can't we all just get along?

Seems real. Looks like it has the original California license plate. Vin is WP0AA2996YS620558 and Carfax shows it as a one owner

I have an actual letter from VWoA on corporate letterhead stating, paraphrased,
"Due to the unique hand-built nature of the Corrado we cannot be certain what original equipment each car was equipped with. Some cars have a check engine light and some do not."
So hand built even by a great company like Karmann doesn't always mean "good". In this case it really means "we put whatever parts we scrounged into the car so it's not our fault".

I agree 100%
That has always been my opinion on hand built, it can mean many different things.
But speaking to hand built by known Craftsmen, it means to me that labor costs are going to be more expensive but it adds a personal flavor or "touch" to the item ...whereas a machine built item has a cold non-personal flavor/touch and usually less cost associated with higher production....even if the end quality is exactly the same..
My first impression of the "ugly headlights" was, WOW !! That is so much more Aerodynamic and stylish than the Bug Eye headlights....Then the talk about " not being hand built" started...

Here is one. I'm pretty sure it is Cuda911's (Mike) old car. Could be a good deal at $15,500.
2003 Porsche 911 needs smog - $15,500 (I have a non-op title.)

I've heard this user referenced a few times. Is he the guy who has a YouTube channel about cars and meat? What was his user name? I feel like I'm missing out on some controversy, and I hate that

No the Motors and Meats guy seems like a really good guy (love the channel). This is some other dude named Luis but damned if I can remember his username!
