Finally found a good-looking deal close to me. Ad went up an hour ago and I just got off the phone with the seller who has someone coming to see it in 30 minutes. I'm 2nd in line, but it may be too late.

Seller says he is firm on the price, which is fair since he's had such serious interest within an hour of posting the ad. At $17k it seems fairly priced for a car with 111k miles on it, but not exactly an "I stole it" sort of deal.

Yeah I thought about that. But I figure in the long run my best chance to find a car might because someone kindly posts one on here. As long as a dealer or flipper doesn’t buy it, but that seems unlikely on a car with this many miles.

Here is a high mileage 04 C4S. It seems to show well from the photos. The price is incredibly low. Are high mileage cars that hard to sell?

I'm looking for a C4S and really like this color combo along with the Manual. Too bad it has so many miles on it. I'm open to input on this one.
Thanks!

High mileage doesn't worry me if the car was taken care of. Invest the $200-300 needed for a PPI from a reputable Porsche/German shop in the area and let that be your decision maker. Honestly, even if the car needed $3-4k in work to bring it up to snuff, that's still a good deal if it's an overall clean car.
I'd buy it.
I'd buy it.

I've been looking for a couple of months and driven a couple 996's. There is only one available here in MN. I'm an avid DIY'er, so I can do much of the mechanical work myself. At this price I'm not worried about putting another $5K or so into it to take care of the IMS, AOS, water pump, Clutch, etc,,, If everything else looks ok, I think I'm going to go pick it up. I'm in MPLS, so it is a 9 hour drive.
Thanks for the input!
I had the dealer send me a video of the car starting and running. From the video it sounds to me like it has bore scoring What do you think?

that might be a good car that you could own and drive with out to much $$$ or a while - good luck with your search its a lot like picking a spouse if you get a good one you will be very happy if not you will become a philosopher

I would guess the cost of the recent work would be at least $6k - I paid about $4200 for clutch IMS RMS and AOS replacement the first year of ownership of my 2000 996 plus I replaced the tires for about $1K

I think I'd rather get a 996.2 or 997 with under 70k; yes, I'll spend $5k to $10k more, but I think it might be money well spent.

Here is an Anniversary Edition with 68K miles asking $29,991. This seems like it may be a good deal. It is being sold by a Porsche dealer, of Monterey, CA, so we should expect that everything is in good working order. Odd thing is that the ad doesn't even mention that it is an AE! Wouldn't the dealer know that and want to mention it to shoppers?
