I inquired about this one back in January before I bought my coupe. Here is what the dealer told me about condition:
It has 85K miles. We replaced the fuel pump, and it has a new battery. The delay has been the instrument cluster, which is just arrived from Germany, and will be replaced all of next week. The condition is OK (it was well driven), and it is priced accordingly. The good news is that extensive replacement of mechanical issues will have been completed.
I do have a whole host of people who know this model year who are very interested. I would say if you are a Porsche enthusiast that is familiar, and want a well priced vehicle that it is worth the look when we have it back. But, it is not pristine.

That scared me off. It appears their "whole host of people" haven't pulled the trigger yet.
Agent Jester and Vandalizer: I inquired about this car too, geez, months and months ago. Sales person told me same thing as Vandalizer mentioned (new fuel pump, battery) and they were waiting for an instrument cluster. I doubt the car is even still around the dealer. This Lexus dealer had Kummrow Automotive working on it, and it was there for a long time. The dealer has littered Craigslist with this car, and it is annoying to keep seeing it in search results with one stinking picture.
If I am wrong, and someone wants a local check on the car, make sure it is there and I will go, or Vandalizer will. So Vandalizer, did you recently purchase a 99 996? Curious as I looked at a black one at Umansky.
Thanks guys.

I would be happy to put eyes on it. Curious that it is/was at Kummrow. I didn't realize they did Porsche work.
I did buy the black '99 that had been at the Umansky BMW dealer. I wasn't necessarily looking to buy right then but the condition was amazing. I had my regular Porsche mechanic go over it and then he did the RMS/IMS/clutch before it even came home.
If not, suggestions as to what a reasonable price is would be much appreciated.
VivG, yes I think you are priced appropriately. You have a beautiful car. You should end up north of $20k, so your asking price is in the right place. These cars don't have accurate auction info.

Wow. For that thing? Seller is smoking crack. That's a $12k car at best.
Actually probably just about perfect. Only thing that may hurt you is that there always seem to be a handful for sale in the Bay Area which will drive prices down a bit. GLWS

Way off. I suggest $22995.
I think your car is within range for the market. Once you price it, you can always go down, but harder to ask more. It shows regular care and feeding, knowledge of the marque, and it's not silver, black, gray. I'm guessing it'll be on the market for CL for a while, and the option of running it on BAT might be better. CL is kind of the low-ball audience.
On a side note, I think you did fine with the pics, but if possible, take it to a nicer location, like the one with the bay behind. The urban pics don't often sit well with Porsche buyers. Maybe park it in front of one of the gated mansions and snap a few pics. Or over to Marin headlands, or something.
