once out it has tapered prongs that snap into the fastening hole and tighten to hold as the pin is pushed back in.
I will caution to be careful with the pushpin. I got a little over zealous and pushed it all the way through. Thankfully, I found the little bugger.

Anyone know of a 3D printing file to make one of these?

My son just got a 3D printer and he says you can get flexible filament. Might be a good project for him.

I know, buying a cap with lanyard is easier and not expensive, but he's looking for projects.

Kind of agree with Nutty, but then again, if he doesn't have a 996 then makes you wonder.

I replaced my Cap because of broken tether last year, I like not leaving it on car or ? Have always used clip that holds it , same for Boxster chassis, which is where I started using it.

For your 996?
Which one did you get?
I only see Audi A4, Subaru and Bentley.
Does one of those work?

You have to contact him, he digitally printed one for 997 aluminum look cap that fit perfectly.

Its a good thing too because the leash was integrated into the cap and would have had to replace the whole cap.

I get the idea that he has multiple patterns and keeps the files as he makes new ones.

My 1999 does not have the hole where the fuel cap clip goes in. Did the 1999’s not have a fuel cap strap?

I need the spring to hold my fuel door open...It just flops to close if I use the hanger. Also, I need the little piece that guides the locking pin for the fuel door release. Anyone?

I did the spring and it was a PITA. One wrong move and you get a nice paint scratch. I used a lot of masking tape as protection.

my gas cap strap was dried and broken when i purchased my c4s. haven't replaced it yet and i enjoy watching the gas station attendant's odd look when he removes the cap and looks for a spot to place it down. it ultimately gets placed on the gas pump and i always watch to make sure it gets replaced properly. i will eventually buy a new strap.

Probably because of that "Jersey Shore" cast!
