I would have said a bright red Targa. Nice car DT!

I saw beautiful red 2007 Targa a few years ago and almost considering upgrading. But I didn't think it was worth the upgrade just to get a newer car and a brighter colour :-)
If/when my 996 Targa dies I will be looking for a 997 Targa to replace it. Even though the 991 Targa is a beautiful car I think I'd actually prefer the 997 due to its practicality. Specifically the ability to easily fit my kids in the back and luggage behind their seats.

And yes, I drive the car. My son and I love the M-30 suspension and the fun of the PCA Autocross events.

Diddo. Rarity is always a good thing.

John I love that interior. Awesome.

Somebody here was just selling his red 996 cabriolet (getting senile... I forgot who already). Can't remember if he sold it yet, but looked like a very good car and good price.

Ah, OK. I thought it was Gonzo but wasn't sure. I hope he got a decent price, I know he was stressing over it sitting on the market longer than he wanted.

After coupe and full convertibles on offer for years, the 996 Targa seemed neither fish nor fowl. It offered the "open car" feel, but wasn't the convertible most associate with topless motoring. And the price for a Targa was within striking distance of a true 'vert.

I have a sunroof coupe, purchased used. If I was optioning one new (and I probably never will, due to spectacular depreciation), I'd prefer a sunroof delete coupe as my desired body style.

Not a Targa hater, as my first 911 exposure was in my father's '72 911E Targa. That was an evil beast. I learned about "lift throttle oversteer" when lifting slightly in a moderate-speed bend. She spun quick and proper. Having learned that lesson in one session, I never went there again.

Fond memories.

If 4% are only Targas then that's about the same as the IMS bearing faliure rate. So is that a lot or rare?

That would depend on your point of view. My Targa is not rare to me as I see it everywhere I go. If the IMS fails, then I experience that daily as well.
