Bought A 996 This Weekend!
Well, I've been shopping for a while. I've been looking for a relatively low mileage 996 with the Aero kit. I picked one up on Saturday.
It was fairly well optioned from the factory and has since acquired H&R Lowering Springs, Evo Intake, IPD Plenum, GIAC flashed DME, Stainless Fabspeed headers and exhaust, B&M Short shifter, staggered 19" Avant Garde wheels and new Conti Extreme Contact Tires, rolled rear fender lips, and $7k worth of stereo.
It came with a book of receipts, new Porsche brake pads with full fluid flush, and a hardwired Valentine1. Oil has been MOTUL oil, analyzed at every change, and so far, no sign of RMS or IMSB issues. (Both still original.) When it needs a clutch, I'll be putting the LN Engineering kit and updated RMS in.
So far I've had a large time with it! Plans are to own it for many years.

Very nice and welcome! Absolutely love those wheels. Really like the additional aero piece behind the rear wheels. Have been thinking about getting one for mine.
With all of those mods, any chance seller was also a Rennlister?
I gotta ask, join date January 2005 with total of 3 posts - lurk much?
"Relatively low mileage" = ?
Can you post a few interior pics?
For those of us who keep track of the market, do you mind sharing purchase price?

They are not to be disparaged, regardless of what you call them. I have purchased cars for less than the retail price of those trims. I think they're cool.

No idea if he was a Rennlister or not. I suspect it would have shown up in the classifieds here if he were.

Yes, I lurk on Porsche forums from time to time. Usually I was looking for parts or answers. I started restoring Porsches back in the 80's. We did several late 60's to early 80's 911s as well as dabbling in 924/944/928's that we took as trades. I bought my first 914 when I was 14 years old. It had a tree growing through the floor pan, mice living in the trunk, and the interior and drive train was provided in boxes. I've owned a few more through the years. This is the first 911 I've owned, but I've restored and driven tons of 60's-80's models.

Can you post a few interior pics? I'll try to snap and post a few today. Its got MA Carbon around the stereo and center console, sport seats with crests, color matched seat backs and console, and a Pioneer touch screen DVD/NAV/BlueTooth/Ipod/XM system with Steg amps, Focal speakers, bass blockers, etc.
For those of us who keep track of the market, do you mind sharing purchase price? I'll share. I paid $23,500. I think that was a fair price given that it looks like a new car and had all the performance mods I would have added down the road to another car. As to whether I got a deal or not, I'm happy with the price I paid, so that works for me!

Not that it matters to you, but I think that's a very fair price for that car. Recently, there was another Mk I aero with mid-20's mileage that the seller was asking $34k that we were discussing in here. While everyone thought that $34k was ridiculously high, most people were putting the value of that car in the $23k to $27k range. So, I'd say you paid right at market value. It's tough to find an Aero kit car with those quality mods, in that condition and that low of mileage.
Now, let's get that number of posts up there. With your ownership and restoration of other Porsches, you've got lots of valuable experience to share. Don't be a stranger.
