The moment I no longer own a porsche, there would be no reason to come back here.

Thanks everyone. Since the buyer is a Rennlister and may chime in at some point, I don't want to spill what he paid for the car...I'll let him do that if he chooses. Although not what I originally wanted, I am happy with what I got and the new owner seems like a nice guy.

As for sticking around the 996 forum, it dawned on me that I have the old IMS in my office. Since we all know that bearing is the true heart of the 996, I believe I can still technically post in this forum. Thoughts?

And please say yes. The most interesting thing in the 997 forum has been the "Hey, where did this scratch come from?" thread.

Very funny.
When I almost sold mine over the summer and was facing the prospect of another search (this time for a 996TT), I remembered that I looked for 2 years before I bought my current car. I couldn't stand the thought of possibly not having another 911 for anywhere near that long.

So, this means that I am officially out of the 996 world. Can someone grant me a Visitor's Pass or Lifetime Emeritus Status please? The 997 guys just don't get me.
We will--so long as he doesn't ask 'why did Porsche put an IMSB' in the engine...

Sure, but you need to place it near your phone. Whenever you are on a call, you can spin the bearing, which will be almost the same experience as actually driving a 996. Just be VERY careful... you never know when it may implode or explode on you.

To really preserve the 996 experience, store the IMSB in a bath of Royal Purple. The oil should be changed daily or every 42 revolutions of the IMSB, whichever comes first. Make sure to examine the discarded oil with an electron microscope for evidence of metallic particles.

After removing the IMSB from the oil bath each morning, it should be washed thoroughly, plasti-dipped matte black and "stanced" by leaning it at a 45 degree angle against any object on your desk (bonus points for red staplers). When retiring for the evening, remove plasti-dip, wash and wax the IMSB and place it back in the oil bath.

If anyone asks about the bearing, show them a picture of boobies.

It is clear to me that you understand the 996 experience.

Does anyone want my old coil packs?
