Default Pelican IMS help installing.

So I have installed everything properly I think. Placed the bearing in the IMS tube enough to get the C clip in the groove. When I put the cover on and the spacer with the O ring the 12 point nut bottoms out on the shoulder before I can torque it. What is wrong? Did I not install the bearing far enough? Machining issue with the bolt threads?

Default Here are some photos

The first shows the depth of the install, c-clip is engaged fully. Second shows the threads shorted before the shoulder to the spacer. Do I need to install the bearing deeper? Just add some washers?

Ah, I figured it out, I am supposed to use the bigger spacer for the single row bearing. The packaging wasn't clear as the big spacer was with the double row spacers. Oh and by the way my bearing was completely intact and had good resistance, felt very much like the new pelican bearing.

What was the condition of the double row bearing which you replaced. Let me guess (perfect condition) right???????????????????? If not then show a photo of it please.

Single row bearing actually and perfect. Had about a cup of oil in the IMS tube though. The old bearing at 33,000 miles felt just as tight as the new one.

Replacing a dual row bearing with a single row has never made any sense to me.. In fact, I spent years developing a way, and the bearing that would fit a dual row bearing to a single row shaft.

The issue that you mention with the bottoming out is something we hear often when folks call looking for technical assistance for the bearing that you are using… But we can't help them.
