Who stole a motor?
Alright I know motors can be expensive for most people but I hope this is really an isolated incident.

Theft recovery car and the only thing that seems wrong with it is the lack of a motor. I wonder if it was one of Jakes special 3.8 or 4.0 motors...

Looks like the thief also needed rear bumperettes and a coolant tank cap. Good thing I painted my bumperettes body color ... cuts down the odds on getting hit by a roaming bumperette thief.

There are several "goofy" cars on ebay right now. There's one who was a victim of MotorMeister:

The numbers these guys are asking for are insane... Who cares what the story is, a non-driver is just that. If it's ALSO completely missing the engine and accessories - only a chassis like a turbo or GT2/3 is going to command north of $10k when it comes to me laying out dollars again for a roller.
Given Motor-Meister's demise - I would expect a number of these victims to try and recover over/above the average-market price of a roller pre-MM-demise. I can't blame them for trying; but I predict they will be yet-again disappointed in the today-value of a 996 chassis. I wonder if those owners could be made more finacially-whole by claiming the replacement-value of the engine as a capital-loss on their taxes and then dump the chassis for cash at the more realistic price...

BS on motor theft. Motor is the most traceable part of the car. If I were to strip the 996, I would not touch the motor. Take the head/tail lights, interior pieces, brakes, instrument cluster, bumpers, and interior. That is it.

If i'm yanking the motor on a hot car, I would be cutting things left and right. Why would you bother with the wiring and coolant hoses when you'll dump the roller?

Hard to say. It didn't say how long it was in the theft's hands. Maybe they hid it in a secret garage and took their time to remove the engine properly
The asking price is unrealistic for a roller regardless.
