Default Can't Decide 996 C4S Color Pro/Con?

Can't decide what my new 996 C4S color should be. My last car was silver and was very easy to maintain, although I am weekend detailer.

I'm a little bored but I hear a lot of folks complain how hard it was to maintain black and switched to silver. Arctic silver is very nice on the C4S, but having just seen a black C4S 996 at a dealer showroom, it seems to make the Porsche stand out more, appears to be more dramatic, the front of the car seems to be have more attitude, if you know what I mean.

But silver brings out the little things like the front and rear vents. My dealer claims arctic silver also makes the C4S look wider, bigger vs black. I wish this was easy. This is the first time I have seen a blck C4S 996 and it sure looked great!

Your comments, pro/con, one vs the other?

thanks in advance.

I have Midnight Blue and if your willing to clean the car every weekend then go for black.

I think dark colors make Porches much more aggressive. Just remember on dark colors swirl marks and light scratches show up very easily. So when washing make sure your sponge has no dirt on it. Even sliding your finger on a dusty car will create micro clear-coat scratches visible under flouresent and sun light.

Black looks awesome on a Porsche! I would seriously consider it on my next p car, but it's sooo damn hard to keep clean.

Speed Yellow. Definitely for my next 911. And am I the only person in the world who likes Zanzibar Red?

How about white? Very rare and looks stunning in person and in pictures.

I agree, white is stunning and rarely seen in a C4S, have seen C2 and Cabs in white, both were great looking.

I have always wanted a silver Porsche. That makes my bias pretty obvious. It is easy to clean, no swirl marks EVER, and you don't even have to wash it that frequently to look decent. And when you do detail it, Arctic silver in the sunlight and in the glare of streetlights at night is just awesome. It does bring out those big nostrils on the C4S and TT, as well as the other black accents.

Dark colors, black among them, will give a more dramatic look, a more sinister look to the car. It also makes those silver wheels stand out more. It does require more work to maintain, and that is what sets out the Porsche owner of a black car. He likes to detail the car, and perseverance and patience will definitely be rewarded. It will definitely set that car apart.

Me, I guess I'm sort of lazy. I detail my car. and detail it well, probably about once a month. You say you are a weekend detailer. If you like to do that weekly, then I would say go for the black. And don't get the metallic. The non-metallic black has a deep darkness to it when properly maintained that is hard to beat.

I am not going to say anything about a white (white?) Porsche .

Doc Jackson is right of course.
But if you've never had a black 911, you need to do it...........course it will be the last black one you buy

I've heard it said, absolutely nothing looks better than a clean/polished black 911..........I have one, have concoured it @ 'Parade'....and agree w/that statement.
Then the other comment would be...........this 911, I plan to spend more time driving, and less time (swirl-removal) cleaning.

I had the same issue. Wanted silver but thought it was a bit unorignal. At the end I got Polar silver which just has a hint of blue in it. Looks fantastic in my mind!

Well, I had an absolutely breathtaking dark blue 993S that looked superior when clean, and while it was a labor of love...it was a labor. Then I went to AS, which I highly recommend along with PS or SG. Like I said in another post those neutral colors allow your wife/girlfriend or whatever to wear any color and still look great!

Beautiful car but a real PIA to keep clean

Can't go wrong with this color or PS or SG

I have a black C4 Cab, and I wash it every saturday.
Some people might think it's excessive but I actually enjoy spending a couple of hours going over every inch of my car. And of course, once washed, it looks fantastic!! Nothing like a black Porsche...

Slate Gray is the best color. i have a silver C4S now and i love it. think about it how long u gonna keep the car. if more than 3 years, get the silver. it will save u tons of time and make u smile in the long run. figure u know the reason yourself.

i think my next Porsche will be Slate Gray, or.... silver
