What's the most comfortable seats for daily/long distance driving?
Hi All
I use my 2002 996 for daily driving and love to take it on long hauls, I dont track the car so that's not an issue. I am looking for real nice comfortable seats so I can drive 600+ miles without being in pain. The new 2014 911 seats are sweet but I cant afford to trade up. Has anyone done a seat swap for the same reason? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

What seats you have in now?
The fully powered, heated, with lumbar support and supple leather would be the best factory choice in all DD conditions that would plug and play IMO. The adjustable lumbar is the key IMO to long distance comfort. The adaptive 997 seats are great too but they're not plug and play.

Both the seat in my Boxster and my Turbo are comfortable enough to allow me to drive 600 or more miles in a day. That's 10 hours at least and in some cases 12 or more hours.
All I have found helps is a couple of small pillows. One to jam down between the driver's door and seat to support my left arm and the other on on the center console to support the right arm so my hands do not have to grip the wheel so tight to support the weight of my arms, which is tiring.
My hands grip the wheel at about the 4 and 8 positions rather than the 2 and 10 positions.
I found my eyes get tired before my body does.

I have sport seats in one, which are better for DEs; the other car has the comfort seats, which are better for daily driving. The sports seats are certainly acceptable for daily use, but have far fewer adjustments that improve longer distance driving.

I've got the comfort seat option with power lumbar in my C4S. They are great for long drives and for a daily driver. They do leave a little to be desired on the track compared to sport seats, but that doesn't seem to be an issue in this case.

I drove a 996 C4s with supple leather seats 350 miles & exchanged it for a 996tt with standard full leather seats. The supple seats are much softer & more comfortable for a long drive.

I'm with Macster. I have done 10 hour+ sessions in the stock Boxster and 996 seats, and they treat my back better than the seats in my X5 did.

It's a different answer for different people. I have lower back pain and personally find that more heavily bolstered sport seats tend to keep me comfortable for longer periods of time. While I like the full power memory seats in my 996, I would love to find an affordably priced set of used Recaros to install at some point. My old S8 had Recaros in it that were an absolute dream.

I have a set in my Audi TT... I am actually quite comfortable in them. Drove from Austin Texas to GA, All over TX (3 hours to Houston, 4 hours to Dallas)... The seats are lower than stock Audi TT seats, so it gained headroom in the Audi... but I am not a tall guy (5'8")

As for headroom, yes, you get a little more when the seat is forward. It's roughly the same (within an inch) with the seat all the way back. I always remove the bottom cushion when I wear a helmet in the car, for what it's worth.
