Need your advice
Porsche makes the wonderful machines. Been loving our 955 Cayenne Titanium edition. Looked around Ferrari 355 for a while, but there is something about German engineering, especially 996.
Love everything about 996, except the front end. Much prefer 997 GT3 or 997 aero kit front end.
Hate 997 interior/steering wheel/console layout, and etc. Not to mention 997 rear end/ tail lights, even hate 997 door *****.
I guess only thing I like about 997 is the front end with 997 GT3 or aero kit.
I don't care much about the performance, 911s are fast enough for me, not like I'm gonna race around the public streets. Never liked the idea of turbo engine more likely N/A guy. I'll be invest in suspension rather than the engine modifications.
Need your advice, thanks in advance.

Buy a 996 and do a 997 facelift. There are aftermarket kits out there too that look more like a 997.

At 15 years old, the 996 design is basically a vintage car. Either learn to love the 996 for all its beauty and quirks, or move on to something more modern. I'm with you on the interior of the 997. It has about the same amount of silver plastic as my Mitsubishi.

To me 996 interior is more modern and flows better, 997 interior looks just cheap and I just don't know what to do with them. It stressed me out where I no longer wanted to hang inside of the car at one point. I don't like those new steering wheels neither, how cheap look can they get?
The rear end of 997 looks out of place to me. Glad Porsche returned back to the rounded headlights starting 997.
To tell you the truth, I don't mind having 996 02+ headlights, but 996 front bumpers just look horrible compare to 997 GT3 or Aero bumpers. Maybe I should just settle with 996 GT3 front bumper.

Hmmmm,,, looks like if I spend the same amount of money, facelift procedure to 997 GT3, metal parts + the oem poly bumper, around the similar price range, I could almost get 996 GT3 RSR carbon fiber body kit instead. I might go to that route if I decide to jump on this.

That sounds like a fun project, either way.

You could also get a 996 turbo bumper and put it on a 996 C2. This is a pretty common mod and it's not too expensive if you buy a used bumper.

Be glad you didn't buy/or sold, the 355.. Its very much a nightmare when it comes to any maintenance because of the way they are built.. seem like you are always replacing something.. esp the timing belts.. its a blast to drive every now and again, but not something that's very reliable like the 360 and above is..
996 is a great car for the price and dependability or more then a weekend car up to a DD and looks very nice..
