Been staying at motels/hotels for years with my Porsches and never had any problems.

I park as close to my room as I can or park where the car is visible from my room if I'm not on the ground floor.

Generally where/when possible I'll also park the car where it is on CCTV and visible from the front desk.

I avoid parking the car in the registration drive as this invites damage from careless people coming/going or from some vandal who takes exception at my parking the car outside of a legal parking space.

(Check with your insurance, for I believe in some policies if the car is not legally parked insurance may not cover any damage.)

I empty the car of anything of any value including radar detector, GPS NAV unit, any suitcases, laptop cases, anything that might tempt someone to smash a window to grab something out of the car.

Then I lock the car.

'course I avoid the seedier motels and hotels that obviously cater to, well, people I would prefer not to have as neighbors even if only for one night.

Manually lock the steering. Close the drivers door. One push on the key button. If no horn beep. It's locked and loaded. Other than a fish line from the car to your big toe there's nothing more you need. haha.

or granted?

I've had my car at a few hotels, no worries if it's locked and loaded.

I came outside at a hotel recently, and found some idiot using a leaf blower right next to my car, blowing the entire pile of dirt, sand, leaves and trash right at my car. You can believe I had a few choice fords with him.

Edit: "words".

Of course, I wish I had a Ford F-150 to run over his leaf blower.

But honestly, NOBODY will steal an aged German car on the whim. The immobilizer alone is problematic, cars are rare and hard to part out quickly, and it is much easier to steal a civic to turn a profit.

You will not save yourself from vandalism. Unless you live in the bubble, and your car never leaves you sight **** will happen.

Yup. Sorry guys, but a $5k Integra is more appealing to thieves. Easier to sell off the parts on Craigslist, more common and harder to trace, easier to steal. Except for worries about some variety of assclown keying my car I sleep just fine with it outside a quality hotel, of course observing the common sense theft prevention measures mentioned previously.

Are you trying to say San Diego is an unsafe place to live?
