"But officer, I have this whistling noise at 120..." I really laughed hard when I read the last post on page 1. Feel bad for you man, but seriously funny.

Well, if it only whistles once every seven days, it's probably not worth tracking down.

Worst part of the story is,I was going to take the Porsche to Vancouver airport today, pic up my girlfriend
and head to the ski resort Whistler, 1.5 hours of beautiful curvy roads and spend the night in the Hilton, Using her Hilton points.
Right now im in the ferry lineup sitting in a Ford explorer

You can still drive fast... just go to the track!

I've gotten to the point that I no longer use my radar detector in my 996 and I rarely exceed the speed limit by more than 10 mph. Porsches attract too much attention from the police.

When I hit 100mph or there about, I hear what can only be described as a piercing shrill type scream noise. Around 150mph there is a very strange smell and I am damned if I know where that is coming from. Stranger still is it only seems to happen when the wife is with me.

Lol on the wife but the piercing shrill is probably the Porsche emblem you have back there. The 996 model was never aerodynamically designed to have more than a 3 letter emblem back there.

...and the smell is likely the combination of adhesives curing on the vast collection of numbers and letters stuck to the decklid.

That last post on Page 1 by OP was one of the funniest I have read in a long time, but then again, I wasn't the one with my car impounded. I feel sorry for you man. I believe that speed converts to about 96 MPH in a 50 zone in the US. While obviously pretty fast, that speed would not be considered that unusual on US Interstates although those speed limits on those roads are usually 65 MPH or higher. That said, it appears you guys north of the border take speeding pretty seriously. I have to believe there are very few states that would impound your car in CONUS. Good luck man.

96MPH in 50MPH zone would be criminal speeding in any state in US. Doing nearly double the speedlimit can warrant wreckless driving charge and license suspension as well.

In the context of this thread, it is just too funny though.

SM: Officer, I was trying to replicate that whistling noise I got last night at 120MPH so I can better describe it on the forum.
Officer: *slowly pulls out the big black baton and hands SM a jar of vaseline*.

The speeds are in kph? Because I had very little whistling noise at 120 mph. Of course the roof was open and the windows were down. One bright spot in a day trapped doing lawyer stuff.

Ha ha. all these replies make me laugh, its good and entertaining. I usually know when to show and when to fold, this time i showed at the wrong time, first ticket in two years but i have ripped my sport bike in the same spot at the same speed many times. I don't really live in a conservative manner

I am lucky i got no license suspension and only 3 points against my license, 6 points in a year and you get a 300$ fine here in BC, I could have gotten more chargers I'm sure, but the cop became my fest friend very quickly,

One good thing, the tow truck driver, he brought truck at first, then flat deck after, also has a 996, a 2000 left to him from his dad, same color etc, so we chatted about the cars and he showed much consideration setting my car up for tow. no i don't have the tow screw thingie. Im sure we have the only 996's in a 100 mile radius.

gotta look at he bright side at least i didn't crash the car or kill myself

Not in Pennsylvania. There is no charge of "criminal speeding" in PA. That speed would result in a very high fine and undoubtedly a suspension of your driver's license, but not reckless driving nor impoundment of your vehicle. I have to believe some other states are similar to PA.
