They impounded the car but didn't suspend your license? That's weird.

I used to heavily abuse the insanely low speed limits around these parts but a combination of experience, fear of cops, and been there done that keeps me below 160 pretty much all the time now. In my car anyway. I'm still pushing it on the bike now and again.

What road were you on by the way?

Yes, glad they didn't suspend my license. Not sure what the laws are regarding license suspension

I live in Gibsons, 40min ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay, I was on the only passing lane between here and Sechelt, the other small town 40 mins away, Finally got a chance to pass that minivan that was holding me up. I always get stuck behind minivans

There are some great twisty roads farther up the coast, a good hours worth

For me the whistling started at 135-140 up the back straight at Watkins Glen. I suddenly realized that the bus stop was coming up and I was whistling Dixie!

I don't really live in a conservative manner

I am lucky i got no license suspension and only 3 points against my license, 6 points in a year and you get a 300$ fine here in BC, I could have gotten more chargers I'm sure, but the cop became my fest friend very quickly,

One good thing, the tow truck driver, he brought truck at first, then flat deck after, also has a 996, a 2000 left to him from his dad, same color etc, so we chatted about the cars and he showed much consideration setting my car up for tow. no i don't have the tow screw thingie. Im sure we have the only 996's in a 100 mile radius.

gotta look at he bright side at least i didn't crash the car or kill myself
So you're driving/riding in BC in a known spot for impounds - with our stupid impound rules - pls tell me you were bright enough to have a radar detector on???

All of BC has the same impound laws for excessive speed, 40k over the limit.
I do have Radar, but was far too late, going around a corner at 96mph into oncoming police car.

Nothing can pickup instant on if there are no cars ahead of you or roads are sparse. Not saying that was the situation with OP but the one thing detectors will fail at.

Radar works like a flash lite . Detector will detect the beam but not if you are around behind or coming around a corner. Van island highway has some great straight stretches I'm sure but I usually only push it in the corners with the 996.

RCMP only run KX and KA in their cruisers. Good Escort (Solo III or 9500i) will pick them up every time. No excuse for the OP to make this mistake in this province when we are allowed to run these systems legally!!

BTW I only run on the B roads with the 911 and my R1 and Duc - mounties never get close the detector always chirps and one touch of the brake lever and I'm at the limit. You've got to know how to speed in this provice - like not on the S2S etc!!

I believe that there is on the market a head light darkener which reflects the detector back to the cops at a slower pace, giving the driver more time to react in braking. By the time the cops get their reading you should be warned by your own detector of their presence and have come down in speed considerably. The cops train their beam on your head light reflectors from all accounts. I try to follow close to the car in front if I am speeding hoping he gets done before I do haha. You have to have your own police radar on board obviously. God only knows if this really works. I guess we will never know.
