Default Another Led Light problem (2000 996 911 c2 mk1)

Hey guys, so i decided to buy a set of led tail lights just to see if i like the setup or not. I'm installing them and ran into some trouble, I have both tail lights wired up exactly the same; however, when I turn on my headlights like i usually do, the right side has running red lights and the left side does not. When my headlights are not on both tail lights blink and brake fine.

I've tried looking up what the problem is and the threads i've came across haven't really helped or been very clear.

I'm uploading some pics of what I mean so maybe it helps get a better idea. Again, I am not an electrical expert or anywhere close to one so please if you use electrical terms please try to simplify them (sorry).

I could also just be a total idiot and i'm messing up something very easy. If there is a more simple way of installing step by step, please point me in the right direction, my searching has not helped me.

Any help is appreciated, thank you!

Rights side. Light running when headlights are switched on (not pressing brake)

Rights side wiring

Left side. light not running, not pressing brake. Wired the same as the other side.

Did you swap the lights from left to right to see if the same light has the problem? If so, it's probably a bad light.

that light isnt a bult though, it's a connection to the led. so does that mean the tail light is bad?

Hi, I happen to be installing the same lights (are these "Spyders" from Amazon?) now and I'm having some issues. Were you able to figure out how to properly wire these? I'm a bit confused on the wiring and am currently blowing a fuse when the right side running lights are on...

Do a search - there is a post somewhere that has detailed photos. There is a wire that plugs into the outermost socket that can easily be plugged in correctly or with polarity reversed. If you're blowing fuses, you probably have that plug reversed.

Yup I already installed these. If your blowing a fuse on the right side pull it off and take the small blade type plug and unplug it and flip it. replace the fuse and you should be good to go.

^^ Exactly - the spade plug for the small bulb at the end isn't polarity keyed - I did this same thing installing mine.

Use your multimeter to figure out which side of the harness is +, and match the red side of the spade connector to it. You'll be golden. If you don't have a multimeter, you could peel back the shrink tubing to get a better idea if which side is the + side, but a multimeter is the better way to go.

If the spade bulb connector is installed reversed, you blow the fuse for that side. When you don't notice the fuse is blown, troubleshooting REALLY gets frustrating.

Looks like you have the same LED tails I got - the built-in resistor pack seems to prevent the hyperflash issue that plagued a lot of other LED tail users...

Thanks for the info on flipping the outer spade bulb connector. I did this and all is good. No more blown fuses (I burned out two of them) and the lights look awesome. Now if only I can get my Reverse lights working...
