I have shipped several in the past. The best way to secure a box for shipping is to go by a couple body shops and ask them for one. They go through a lot of bumpers and always have empty boxes around. Then, bite the bullet and ship FedEx.

Greyhound can be OK, can be bad. Count on them dropping, banging, jamming, ... to the max. Boxed and wrapped. brace them with lengths of wood screwed across span of bumper.

1. take lots of pics of bumpers before shipment. VIDEOS are better.
2. send #1 above to buyer before shipment
3. buy insurance.
4. draft a Bill of Sale: BUYER received full disclosure of shape of bumpers (via #1 above)and more importantly, agrees that you will NOT be liable for condition they will be in upon delivery.
P.S. Try asking car/motorcycle shippers, they MAY have room for stuff like bumpers. I bought a bike and had it shipped with EXTRAS (mufflers, seats, etc.) and shipper had a box strapped on the floor of his truck, right next to my bike.

I used UPS ground for my last bumper shipment.

I find FedEx Ground to have good pricing. Make sure they are well wrapped and the finish is protected. I bought a front bumper several years ago and the seller just put it cardboard. It arrived with marks from the corrugated box in the finish. Unfortunately this was not the only problem as the "mint condition" bumper had been repaired and reprinted several times. So I had to have it stripped and repainted.
