Default 996 coolant leak

Hoping the rennlist experts can help me one more time. Other day smelled coolant, got my 996 up on a lift and found coolant leaking from the drivers side rear of the motor (so side of the motor where tranny bolts up) for the life of me I cant tell what the component is that the plastic hose seems to be going into. it looks like I have a small amount of coolant seeping from the plastic line. Is this the oil/air seperator? or am I completly off base here. I have attached a pic. Can anyone help and point me in the right direction?

have your cooling system pressure tested to locate/identify the source or cause of the leak.

That look exactly identical to my AOS failure. I mean IDENTICAL!

Based on the picture you provided I would venture to say its the coolest line on your AOS

I hav the same problem as well. Here's a link to the part: http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...-05/104-10.php
Im getting mine fixed by my local Indy who estimates 4-5 hours and the part was $102 from my local pcar dealer.

+1, looks a lot like AOS. Good luck with everything.

I seem to have a similar problem that somewhere there are some drops of coolant, so AOS could be at fault?

one question, what does the AOS on 996 have to do with coolant? sorry for the incompetence.

Coolant runs through the AOS to avoid ice up at sub zero temp. If you look at the AOS, you will see two skinny barb connections. Those are hooked up to the coolant lines.

While you're sure where it is coming from in case any forum-mates have a leak you can't find, replace the reservoir cap first. They're dirt cheap and tend to fail frequently.

while the part will be ordered the coolant warming function will be removed by connecting both ends together, that will also show whether there are any other leaks, hopefully no
