Default Steering wheel options? OEM thicker wheel?

Is there a factory "thick" leather 3-spoke steering wheel available for a `04 996? It's kind of funny my Volvo station wagon has a thicker wheel than the 996 (I also find it odd the steering column does not tilt and only telescopes).

Yes, it's an option. 2mm thicker if I remember right. ~$700 to $1k

Check out Dallas Custom Steering Wheel. They'll rework your current steering wheel to your liking for a fair price.

Thanks Ahsai & Laz. I like the idea of an OEM replacement and the padded leather wheel is the way to go. Thanks again `gents.

Second this.

I had mine thickened, re-wrapped (perforated and smooth leather), added thumb rests, and finally a black centering stripe for $570. Even got to specify down to the stitching pattern and thread colors.

If you need some shots of a re-worked 4-spoke, message me.

I have had several steering wheels reworked at carsdream.com in Poland. Turn a round is between 4 and 6 weeks.

...I like the stock wheel but I prefer a thicker wheel. I changed the wheel on my `98 Volvo wagon to a Volvo C70 coupe thick leather wrapped wheel (yes, even Volvo's have fancy steering wheels!) and to me it has a great feel to it.

Thanks to everyone for the info. J.
