Don't know. You sure it's the cover? Could be a spark plug tube. Can you post a pic? From underneath?

from experience, rates will vary by location. Have you tried calling around in your area?

Yea, make sure it is not the spark plug tubes. Mine looked like it was the covers leaking until I pulled all the spark plug tubes and found 3 crimped and leaking badly..

Tech at a local dealer quoted me a couple of hours of labor and material/supplies. The camshaft cover bolts are not supposed to be reused and are replaced. They're not that expensive but they're not free either.

Roughly this works out to around $500.

This is when the camshaft cover of my Boxster was diagnosed with a leak. We looked at the spark plug tubes and other sources but it is clear the leak is the camshaft cover and on the bottom seam.

The leak is not bad and he cleaned it off and it has been 10K miles or more now and it has not gotten any worse so I let it go. No oil hits the ground and there's not an oily mess under the engine.

My covers were leaking and what I did was replace the lower 3 or 4 bolts with the new microencapsulated bolts. Go one at a time, clean the threads in the bolck thouroughly, then use some gasket maker on the the bolt from about halfway down the shaft to the head of the bolt. Be sure to torque to spec.

I did this and its not perfect, I get the slightest weep of oil, but much better than before.

Rates are regional enough that any answer you get is probably only good for a specific state or region.

Whatever the cost, I'd rather have it done in NC than Southern CA

+1 for checking the plug tubes. The LAST thing you want to do is pull the cam covers off.

valve covers almost never leak
I also thought this was rare. I would give it a good cleaning and carefully look for leak.
