Appears to me that a rocket scientist has used orange RTV to seal something on that engine.

Were those repairs done by a Porsche dealer? If so, man thats bad. I would do what others suggested and pull sump cover. In fact, I would also be concerned about the metal flakes. What else did the "dealer" screw up?

Was not a Porsche dealer but they had several euro cars incl ferrari, lotus, maseratti, benz, bmw, and other porsches, so assumed they new what they were doing. I plan to pull pan soon. Attached pics of area with orange sealant is located.

I'm planning to change my oil next weekend on my 99 C2 with 90K miles and also want to pull the pan to check for debris and clean it out. Is there a gasket on the pan that needs to be replaced or do I just use sealant? If sealant, what type should I use? Thanks!!
