Default Changed Pads - massive SCRAPING!

Just did a quick pad change, went to bed the pads in ...and after applying the brakes a few times, I got enormous scraping from the front passenger wheel.

Pulled the wheel off - rotor was hardly moving, as if the piston/pads hadn't retracted. Prised back pads with pliers, pulled away with no noise. Once I applied brakes, it happened again...

Any ideas?

I'm betting one of the pads was in backwards! If so this is the second such problem I have seen posted on a Porsche blog in the last couple of weeks.

But they last much longer when you do it that way.

Don't feel bad, Im sure I've done much worse getting in a hurry. I've learned to double check and sometimes triple check, or more, while doing technical jobs on my 996. I will even take photos or notes for reference.

I took off one day and the ABS light and all kinds of flashing warnings came on, stopped, killed engine thinking I had just destroyed something, looked down and saw E-brake partially on. Felt like a complete idiot because wife was with me.

So come on man, you gotta tell us now.

My father did the backwards pad last year. Drove it for a day.
