Torn as to what I should sell this one for? If the car was stock it would be easy to value, but this car is far from stock and takes the right buyer to appreciate. A huge outlay of cash was required to build this car, but of course that doesn't always equate into value in the market place.

Here is the factory option list, enhancement list and a quick video that I made of the pictures of the car to make them easier to share. (overlook the choice of audio on the video!)

It is disgustingly fast, sounds unreal with the Tial turbos and has a ton of enhancements. Its a great daily commuter, even at this power level. The power delivery is very linear and is matched to Brembo racing brakes and KW Variant 3 suspension for a well-rounded package.
The sound of these Tials is unreal!

Here is the enhancement list:
-steel 997 widebody
-KW Variant 3 suspension
-brand new carbon fiber wing painted (just picked it up)
-Champion 19" wheels
-Brembo racing brakes all around, new slotted 2 pc rotors and pads
-Tial Alpha GT28R turbos
-larger injectors
-Lightweight flywheel
-custom frt. bumper
-CD changer
-HIDs
-sunroof
-adjustable rear tierods

Checked over at 6SpeedOnline or the 996TT forums here?

My thoughts:

1) Who did the body work?
2) Who made the front bumper?
3) Need more specifications on engine mods (manufacturers, primarily).
4) Need more specifications on engine output (if this is much north of 550-600 at the crank, it's a timebomb due to connecting rod fatigue; video lists 600hp - is that dyno'ed at wheels?).
5) True carbon fiber wing, or is this carbon fiber over fiberglass (as 95% of them are)? Few people pay for the 5-6k+ cost that a true, properly cured and laid CF piece runs.

The bodywork for me would the the absolute biggest question, second to the engine work. Not as if there was a monumental change between the 996TT and 997TT body stylings, and cutting into the C-pillar and down, then welding in and finishing up just for a look is both invasive, complicated, and something that I would not pay a premium for. I'd be checking panel tolerances right off the bat.

Probably less than a stock 996T with the same year/mileage/options.

The previous owner (a shop owner/ peer of mine in the industry) carried out all the body enhancements personally as well as all the other work thats been done to the car. It was his daily driver for several years.

The wing is true carbon fiber, I witnessed prior to being painted to match the car.

Several people have valued the car at 48-50 but I want to see whats realistic before I list it for sale in the next few days.

If I remember your location correctly I'd recommend putting a slightly high asking price on it, slap a for sale sign on it and cruise through Helen when Southern Worthersee is going on next month. Has to be some interest in a nicely upgraded turbo.

What he said.

As the mods increase the potential buying audience shrinks at an even greater rate, I've found.

GLWS!

While I like the 997 turbo intakes the rear bumper is hideous. The rear wing is fine as carbon but not a wing that has matched front aero and not a rear wing design I would install. The other upgrades seem fine but they do not add to the value of the car. The 997 headlight and front bumper look nice though I would think it would bring the car value down. The color is ordinary and black is not a color that's as popular on a 13+ year old car. The wheels are worth more selling off the car then on it.
In a Canadian market which is much higher then the USA market. I was well below 48 with a fairly low mile 2001 with a non molested stock body but with track modifications. 48k to 50 would have got me a non molested low mile 2004 x50

Interesting...and challenging...question, because the car has both extensive performance and cosmetic modifications. The Porsche crowd I run with goes one way or the other, not both.

My $0.02--market the car one way or the other, and although it pains me to say it I'd market it to the "poser" crowd (i.e. emphasize the cosmetics). They will not only pay for the look, but may pay for the "prestige" of the power and performance if even they are unable or incapable of using it. The gearheads amongst us will appreciate the power and performance but won't give much value to the cosmetics.

A quick scan of asking prices on Rennlist and PCA for 2001-2003 996 Turbos tells me $45K +/- 5K. Higher prices generally for lower mileage (<35,000) cars.

Hope this helps.

I should really said not a popular color. Black cars with decent paint look great but are high maintenance.
