I don't think there's anything "metro" about it. If I'm on a date, I plan to be using my hands for far greater activities than tire changing and girls don't much care for greasy hands, manly or not.
In all my cars I have a pair of surgical gloves for roadside issues, my own, or for others in need of help. I could care less about grease, I love it, and would sooner lick it off my fingers like fried chicken remnants than wash it, but a real man knows how to change a tire, and attract a lady. A metro calls AAA to do it for him.

Justify it however you want.
I don't have anything against wearing gloves for stuff but if you're going to be wearing some, get some real manly gloves.
I found these to be THE BEST gloves I've worn. They're suppose to be disposable but they are more comfortable, last longest, and is breathable more so than any other gloves I've tried. I've tried practically the entire lineup of Mechanix gloves before discovering these FWIW. This definitely falls under the "cheap but good" category.

I use mechanix gloves as well but I use those red gloves you have linked below to change the oil. The difference is bought a pack of 20 for almost the price of the ones you refer to. Check amazon.com.

The ones at Home Depot are orange. Do you have a link to the ones on Amazon? All I know are the ones from Home Depot have some thick nitrile material that is very durable. I have yet to tear one working on cars and home improvement projects. $5 for 10 gloves. $1 per pair. I only end up using a few pairs per year not because they wear out, but I get too lazy to wash them if they get too dirty.
