What's the best color for a 996 C4S. Factory or custom paint. Just asking for opinions. Thanks

Bassalt Black is the worst, followed by Black.

Silver is the best followed by White.

I knew this going in and still believe it. Bassalt Black is metallic and has little sparklies of different colors in it. Immediately after washing it, at a certain angle it looks like it's dusty or dirty. 30 minutes after washing it, it is dusty and dirty, and it shows. Being a dark color, it absorbs light and makes it difficult to fully see all the organic shapes and design of the car. This is especially true of the Turbo. The large front air intakes just blend in and fade into the body in many lighting conditions and from many angles. If you want your Black car to look presentable, you may have to wash it several times a day. Drive through a puddle and it's dirty.

Silver, is I believe, the traditional racing color for German cars. Silver has a similar look to that of natural metal and the absence of color. Maybe a bit like the car had not been painted at all. If you like it in Silver, you like it because of shapes, lines and the design as a whole, not because it's a Red or Yellow car. It also has a subtle sheen that enhances all of the lines and complex curves of the car and make it look it's best. Silver looks clean most all of the time, even going a couple of weeks between washing. Photographing a Silver Porsche make it easy to get phenomenal shots in most any lighting and with any background. It's very difficult with Black. White is close to Silver, but without the metallic sheen.
