Any idea the timeline of this? Or the likelihood of past and future IMS failures actually being fully covered?

Whoa, that's some serious news. Directing customers to this forum to read up on it. Thanks Bob.

I can't say about post 2005 models, PAG did provide and improved IMS bearing as of 2006. All I know is what I read in the settlement doc posted above and I have posted the contact info of the law firm that provided the info as a way of thanking them.

Yea, why say it includes 2001 - 2005 when most of the 2001, 2002 and some of the 2003's are already over 10 years in service.

I was thinking the same thing myself. Interesting position by PCNA.

If I read this right, Porsche is signing on to paying some or all of the costs of IMS repair incurred by owners up through the current date - but not in the future.

I'll be damned.

What a complete PR snafu. No recall for cars not yet experiencing IMS to get a preventative service?

I find it interesting that the LN bearing add shows up each and every month in the Porsche Club of America's own e-newsletter and magazine (Which I assume the company is afffiliated with, since their name is used- after all you need a VIN # to belong).

For me, this is fantastic new. I bought my late 2002 Carrera ACPO in Dec. 2004. After going through 5 rounds of repairs for IMS leaks and breakages (multiple bearing breakages and shaft replacement) under factory new and CPO warranty, the engine let go in Aug. 2009 after the CPO ran out. I had to replace the engine and Porsche offered no assistance. I already verified my VIN is in the range above. Being ACPO according to the information above, I am entitled to 100% of the repair cost. In my case, this is the best possible outcome. As the assessment and replacement of the engine was performed at my dealer, my case is 100% documented. Thanks!
