I may be retarded, but i can't make sense out of these ranges. My 40th AE starts with WP0AA29994S6.....

It is similar to this "range" WP0AA29991S622763-WP0AA29901S623641" only, but this range makes no sense, is there a typo in the second VIN, where the ninth number should be a "9" and not a "0"? I am a little confused, but under the impression that my 40th is not listed either.

Not sure about failure rates on 40th, but i do personally know a guy who replaced his IMS with LN on his 40th AE (at about 40k miles), and then went ahead and took his old apart to the smallest bits and said everything looked brand new.

Yea, my 40th AE is WP0AA29994S621794 and does not appear to be on there. I had Stevinson Porsche replace my IMS with LNE at 34K miles when I bought the car and they told me bearing they took out looke fine However, at time I felt more comfortable putting in the LNE bearing and being able to sleep nights.

It sounds to me like Porsche knows exactly which 996s received the defective IMSs.

This is a California case and applies to cars sold through PCNA? What about Canadian cars sold new (so to speak)?

it looks to me as the numbers are just inverse where it goes from highest to lowest instead of the other way around. So it looks like you are safe.

I don't think we are covered under this, from what i have read so far, but you can at least check to see if your VIN is there as Candian cars are US cars, so should fall under same VIN ranges.

I would contact the law firm and then also a law firm in Canada that wants to piggy back onto this and make some relatively easy money since the heavy lifting has already been done.

Ideally it be nice if PCNA can at least make a public announcement to clarify this.

Gotta wonder though what kinid of impact this will have on the aftermarket IMS market...

I had some time at lunch and did some math... From the VIN numbers, Icame up with 31392 Boxsters and 35572 911s that are included in the deal. So, overall around 67000 engines that could be covered. Of course, a lot seem to be excluded due to the time constrain(10 years)...Very interesting turn in this IMSB debacle.

If they agree to pay to replace the engine now, why in the hell don't they offer a recall.

I think this class action should be forwarded to the NHTSA for a recall !

Blowing the engine at high speed is definitely a safety concern if you ask me.
