Default Convertible roof help needed diagram included.

Hi, I have a year 2000 car, its a c4 convertible and have a slight problem with the roof, fortunately for me I have found the problem but am unsure of the mechanics behind the fix

The part listed as number 12 is a plastic sheeth that fits over the metal claw that clamps the roof to the window surround, without this sheeth the micro switch does not operate and will not allow the roof to lock properly.
My plastic has broken so I have a new one to fit but upon removal of the main hub unit from the roof ( 6) it would appear to be a pig of a job.
Has anyone any knowledge of stripping this down or is it best left in the hands of Porsche

I can't see the parts in your image above (too small), but it sounds to me like you have this problem:

It looks like others have been able to replace the plastic piece rather painlessly...

There is also be a Porsche Tech Service Bulletin (TSB) on this. (TSB6119) You can see it over at Renntech, but I think you need to be a member. (Totally worth it).

Basically, it says cut off the old cap and glue the new one on.

Oh, and welcome to Rennlist . Tell us about your car... (and show us some pics!)

Two easier ways of repairing this. The first is to cut a wedge out of the replacement piece at the axle hole and trim where you need clearence to slide it on and glue it. 2nd is to cut the lower end off and replace the broken end with the cut piece.

After reading the links and the information given, its definitely a glue job for me. I was lucky to find my broken bit of plastic lying in the passenger foot well and concluded that must be my problem.
Thanks again guys and here is a few pics of my old girl
