Pulled my IMS bearing at 33,000 miles, still looked and felt great. Felt as tight and as smooth as the new bearing I replaced it with. I did have oil in the IMS tube. New bearing, 30,000 more miles till a new one goes in.

I just upgraded to LN Engineering IMS bearing. An inspection of the original bearing revealed no play and very smooth revolutions. Also did RMS, new clutch kit and bearing, new flywheel bolts, spark plugs, and some other work. Very glad I did it. Now I don't have to keep listening for marbles in my engine.

2003 Carrera; 44000 miles. NO IMS bearing failure. LN Engineering IMS bearing retrofit was installed prophylacticly ; the factory bearing was in perfect shape; just sold the car

2004 C4S manual, 55,000 miles, just installed LN Engineering IMS, factory bearing is very stiff to rotate, and I suspect on its way out (as was the technician who had done dozens and this bearing isn't happy). Did new clutch, clutch hydraulics (wow that improved things) and RMS, coil packs, plugs and had flywheel lightly stone ground.

2004 40th AE 27,000+ mi
had the IMSB and RMS procedure performed a month after purchase as I felt that the car
warranted it
the indy shop that performed the work said that it would likely have failed

What's the latest news on the LN original ceramic IMS bearing longevity?
I have a '99 with a dual row bearing. I replaced the OEM bearing with an LN a few years ago. I am wondering how they are holding up.
Any failures reported?

I pulled my imsb yesterday because my rms was leaking. I bought the l&n single row pro and tools. My ims bearing had 77,000 on it. It came out looking and feeling like brand new!
I feel kinda silly buying into all the hype. I thought about selling the l&n stuff and just replacing with a new stock bearing. I went to the local dealer here in Cleveland and was told the bearing only comes with the shaft. ? Really?
The l&n dual row bearing is a pain to install... the damn little circle clip they use snapped in three pieces on my first try. They sent me 5 more for free. I will try again tomorrow...

IMS failure or not
I don'tuunderstand the loyalty of these porsche owners who thinks that as long as their engine runs with all replaced IMS bearing and said that no failure is an idiot. Why would any one spend hard earned money to update an engine parts when you paid outrageous price for an car. To me when replacing any part inside the engine is a failure. And most of these porsche owners don't put that many miles consecutively like their daily car. Honestly. The IMS is fail engine design. Porsche should pay for to replace all engine with ims.
