IMS FINAL Solution
This looks very promising.....
I am very interested to see how this will work. Looks to be at least 5 months away.
What is involved with the install?

Marc.....how many more of the crap posts of XXX do we need to put up with? Can there please be a sub-forum for this? I'm not putting my head in the sand just fed up. If I want to go and drivel XXX at least there will be a place for it. Can you put it by the sticky? For the love of Pete..or God or who ever.....

with a specific oil line... whoahh that is extreme...
I mean, a bit too much for me.
I am ok to replace with nice fresh bearing but adding an oil line... not for me.
If I add any oil line to the system, that will be to have my accusump.

Its just the IMS Solution... Others started the "final" term.
Its not 5 months way here, we are already installing them on-site, where the technology was invented and developed. It will be 3-4 months at minimum before the units get into the distributorship programs since we are not selling these directly, and they are only for professional use.
I agree that there are too many active threads about the solution on this forum, I know of 3 running just on the 996 forum presently. I don't favor these threads either, which may be hard to believe for some.

Oh, you mean by omitting the component that was a standard with every Porsche flat 6 previously built?
The "IMS" is nothing new to Porsche, it was used in the 1955 Porsche 547 4 Cam Carrera engine and was called a "layshaft" through all of the aircooled models and right through the 996 series in the GT3 and Turbo engines.
These engines NEVER have "IMS" failures, because they use pressure fed journal bearings and do not feature a sealed ball bearings like the M96.
When the "IMS" was lost other compromises were made, which we have already experienced with our 9a1 developments. The "layshaft" was there for a reason.

Holy cow Gonzo. I've only been here a short time, but from what I've seen, you nailed it. Freakin hilarious.
Krazyk, you know I love you, but "Just rebuilt my blown engine(IMS) in 17 minutes!" is an instant classic.

Love it!
I once designed an ad that would use a Porsche dash with all the "warning indicators" lit up with different modes of failure like "CELs"... :-)
