Default Aftermarket mufflers and IMS retrofit kit

I like to hear anyone's thoughts on some aftermarket mufflers. Looked at Quicksilver's and Agency Power ?????

Second question what does the LN retro kit cost and what should I expect to pay the have it done?

Last question: local Porsche shop doesn't want to do IMS retro kit claims if the timing chain isn't making any noise on start up and no oil leaks than leave it alone. I'm having a really hard time with his response. Very reputable shop here in Oklahoma have been around along time. He serviced my 930 20 yrs ago and no complaints.

This is a new purchase had the car one week love it. 2000 996 with 19k it's like new!

Chain noise has nothing to do with the IMS bearing but rather chain tensioners. Not a good diagnostic method.

+1 on Fister/PSE Hack, great throaty sound, costs about $300 to have a local shop weld it on if you don't go through Darin (Fister). Should be able to hear some on YouTube if you look for it.

Gotta listen to Charles as far as the timing chain. Your shop is probably speaking from an experience standpoint. The reputable Indy shop I went to said they have seen 2 IMS failures in the last 10 years. I did it for peace of mind. It should probably cost about $1500. If you add the RMS and clutch while they have the engine and transmission apart, $2500.

RAC Performance for sure. They are recognized by many even out of state. They used to only do Porsche but when the market went south in 2008, they expanded to Ferrari, Lambos, Aston's etc. Even though they do all these high end cars, they are reasonable on price. The dealer quoted $3500 for the same thing they charged $2500. Add to that, Hans the owner was trying to talk me out of unnecessary repairs. Who does that?

Here's still my favorite picture of my car, at RAC. In the fine company of a Ferrari, 2 Lambos, and you can even see a Lotus (blew it's engine on the track).

Why would any shop turn down 8-10 hours of labor? Ask how many retrofits they have done in the past. I would make sure the shop you choose has done several. Just the fact that they are hesitant would make me consider some other places.

Hey Novcain, it's like pulling teeth to get some pics of your new ride. You should love the FisterD mod, unless you're trying to lose exhaust weight as well. Welcome to Rennlist.

Pics of new ride coming still trying to figure this whole Rennlist thing out! Bed997 I agree why would a shop turn down 8-10 hrs of billable time! I have an appt with these folks this Thursday to do the yearly service and maintenance inspection. My plan is to sit down and visit with them in detail as to just why they don't want to be proactive! Thanks for everyone's suggestions!
