Removing OEM sideskirts(ie:40th anniv skirts)........anyone?
I'm not going to go into detail about it, but suffice to say that I strongly do not like the OEM sideskirts that are optioned on some cars and come on the 40th anniversary model.
So heres the question:
-Can they (sideskirts) be easily removed, and once removed is there any evidence that they were installed (holes / scratches from where they were pressed up against paint / marks from installation clips etc...?)
Reason = I've expanded my search and found both a Seal grey car that has had them added, as well as several 40th Anniversary cars.
I'd only consider them if I knew I could banish the sideskirts
Anyone have input
Cheers

EDIT: I am guessing you already know how much $$$$ the side skirts cost (parts and labor). but anywho, these THREADs might help:

Edit #2: DELETED THE LAST LINK AND PIC BECAUSE IT WAS FOR A 964 (but you get the idea)

If I thought they were worth anything at all, I'd factor their sale into the purchase price of some of the cars I'm looking at.
Everyone has their own opinion - clearly those in this thread all prefer the sideskirts but me.

I had my car without the sideskirt and I thought it looks really good. And thought the plastic skirts were not the best, but now that I have them... I think sideskirts looks so much better

I'm not a purist but really don't see the logic in getting a 40th anniversary model and not representing it to the fullest. If main driving force is the engine, then at least save the side skirts for resale purposes. If its only the front nose or wheels you're after, get a regular mk2 and start there IMO. My $.02

I didn't mention it before, but honestly I also don't like the bright chromy looking wheels of the 40th.
I much prefer the same wheels when just silver painted on normal Carreras.

you hit the nail on the head
and also the Carrera Silver paint / and that fact that most of them (40th anniv) usually come more highly optioned than the Carreras I've looked at (most have sports seats / PSM / rear wiper / etc....)
